Two 14-year-olds are scheduled to make court appearances in Saskatoon after being charged with uttering threats.
The investigation looked into “a report of an online account sharing content associated to violent extremism,” according to a news release from RCMP sent Friday.
It states that a special RCMP unit, with support from the Saskatoon Police Service, began an investigation on Feb. 10.
The two teens were arrested on Feb. 11, and each is now facing a charge of uttering threats, according to the release, which states the Youth Criminal Justice Act prevents the release of further information about the youths.
Both were remanded and are scheduled to appear in Saskatoon provincial court on Feb. 17.
The release refers to the special unit involved in the investigation as “the RCMP Federal Policing Northwest Region’s (NWR) National Security in Saskatchewan.”
