Alberta to close supervised consumption sites in Calgary, Lethbridge at end of June

The future of the supervised consumption site at the Sheldon Chumir Health Centre, the only facility of its kind in Calgary, will be up for debate by city council as they discuss a motion to call on the province to close the site.

Nearly five years after first announcing its plans to close the supervised consumption site at the Sheldon M. Chumir Health Centre, the Alberta government set a date to close the site later this year and replace it with services more focused on recovery and treatment.
