All along the edge of the Detroit River adjacent to Sandwich, operate industries from gravel and building material plants to asphalt mixing plants. Experts say they, the Detroit industries and the local traffic – soon to be increasing with the opening of the Gordie Howe International Bridge – are affecting the air quality in Sandwich.
